Flying Monkey's could not distract me

It has been some time since I have had time to write! I have been busy working, looking for a job, getting Nick ready for school and generally catching up. I did miss the whole month of December being miserably sick. I still cant believe I truly missed the whole month! It has really been in the last week that I have felt back to myself. Sure, I wasn't coughing and sneezing but I was sure tired and sluggish. That was one bad-ass cold!

We have a yearly inspection in our building that comes before a federal inspection. It is used by management to come in and see if you live like pigs. :) Actually, they do make note of any repairs that would ding them in the federal inspection and come back in to make said repairs. They also have a check list of things you missed last time as well as a list of no--no's. As an example you cant block windows, have cords across doorways that could be a tripping hazard or too tight of a squeeze in hallways in case of emergency. This year they gave more than 1/2 days notice so some of us can get busy. :) I have not been the best house keeper since October when I took a second job. Wil seems to think I'm cleaning just for the inspection but really it soooo needs done. I'm using the inspection as a goal date. I have really got a lot organized, sorted, tossed, dusted and cleaned. Some of the organizing projects I have wanted to do for a long time but was too focused on two jobs and missing the month of December. I have more I want to do and some of the organizing is temporary since I came up with an even better idea after the fact but it will have to wait. I have some other things that need taken care of before I can re-do.

My next project is to get my tax stuff together for my wonderful tax man. He always takes such good care of me. I want to get things together so I get my refund back fast. I have my info from the employers as of today so I just need to go through all my papers savied throughout the yearand make an appointment. I have to pay my parents back for EM and pay off some over due bills. I will be happy to catch up and maybe even save some. I was hoping to have some money to get Wil a 21st birthday present. I will have to wait and see.

My 6 months is up at eHarmony. I will say I was disappointed at the whole process. I answered the questions for the profile as honestly as I could really thinking them through. I was matched to some guys that I saw no reason why they matched me with them! There were no connections, second dates and hardly any first dates. I got the sense from reading the write about yourself profiles that some of these guys just wanted to be married but not have to work at it. It was not a site I would recommend or use again. I really think I should have ignored all the (helpful) folks that insisted on eHarmony instead of Match.com. I wanted the chance to meet people (preferably men and women) and go on dates. I'm not looking for a soul mate or to be in love NOW! eHarm wont let you select to be matched with both sexes. Back to the old fashion way of meeting people. Run them over with your bike/car, blind dates or . . . . . I have no idea.

Another reason to come to the Season opener

I just used my discount one last time for this stint at Hanna Andersson. I got the girls Dreaming of a Dance
Tutu
in black (look under the girls sale tab on the far left) to wear for Roller Derby. I'm such a silly girl but I love it.

Jan 16th at the Expo center. Take the MAX (yellow line)out so you can enjoy PBR (one of our main sponsers) rosecityrollers.com for more information and purchace tickets. Come to the after party (free with your RCR ticket stub) and tell me how much you like my tutu. :)

First rant of the Year

There is something I really want to rant about. I dislike intensely when people skim an e-mail then respond immediately back. I can tell by reading that you did not really take the time to read what I wrote to you. It truly irritates me beyond measure! I mean really! I realize there are times that I am not a clear communicator - I get that. I have sent out e-mails to old school connections - Teachers. They have shown that they do not read and process before responding. I give all the information that they end up asking me for. An example of a recent e-mail I wrtoe is reminding them of my program, graduation date and where I got hired to. They write back asking for all the info I just gave them! My aunties are guilty of this as well. Again, I am not saying I am perfect but this is my rant.

While I'm on a roll I would like to say how pissed off I feel at internet job listings. The position is already filled but you post it as new all over town to get me to use 30 minutes of my time to apply. Once I have finished and press send then you tell me the position has been filled. :[ You are bad mean people.

What else can I rant about. . . . I seem to run of of steam. I'll work up to more rants in the future. Happy Tuesday.

DIY is so cheery

Now that my second job is winding down (and by winding down I mean ending) I have days off again. I used one of those days to my advantage yesterday. I had some life errands to do but was excited to work on my screen. I started this project last summer! I got all the spray painting done in August but then life got too busy. My screen has been in my parents garage gathering dust. I hoped to finish it and bring it home yesterday but we did not have all the details worked out. We made great progress and it looks fabulous! It is going to look soooo good in my place.

We cut, hemmed and stapled the fabric on. I even shocked my Mom by saying I want to learn how to sew one day. Sure I can do some basic sewing stuff but I always have these great ideas that she doesn't always have time for. I'm really excited to add the the copper slightly sparkly narrow ribbon. It is going to edge the fabric to cover the staples. We had not really figured out how we were going attach the ribbon. We were going to use minimal glue dots but I was concerned it would show. I had several ideas I was mulling over but Mom came up with a great idea. She is looking into it today. Small velcro dots. Stay tuned.

New Year = New Year (duh!)

I realized while having a conversation at work that it was time for a New Year and a New Year for Marta's World! The conversation was not about Marta's World it just triggered the thought of the New Year and coming up with a new year. Last year I was working with Olga on New Years Eve and we had fun word playing all evening for the Year of the Leo Moo. I let the Pharmacist pick the letter for the three descriptive words and went to town. She picked the letter R. I came up some okay words but nothing I was excited about. I wanted my words to be empowering and upbeat. Same Pharmacist thought my red hair should come into play on the "Year of" so I played with different ideas but liked this the best. the Year of the Red Roller. I really like the duality of it - I cycle and skate. I also hope to have a year that rolls along in a groovy fashion. It pleases me and that is really the point, right? It is my world. After much word playing and Internet using I have the three words for the Year of the Red Roller. Reflation, Refocillate and Riantly. The definitions are; reflation - increase the amount of economic activity and spending. I like that very much! Refocillate - to cherish; to warm into life again. I find this fitting. Warm into life is very promising. I want to get all parts of my life going at the same time. The last one is Riantly which means laughing;jolly. :) So there you have it. I really like the New Year I have put together. I hope it is a great year. Let me know what you think.
