Technology is kicking my ass!

Yesterday after helping Brian find an apartment we all went to look at getting new phones. Wil and I have had them over 2 years. Mine had been giving me grief for a bit. Wil helped me to pick out a good one. It was supposed to cost $49. but they marked it to FREE! It is more gadget than I am used to but I'm trying to get the hang of it. Yes, it is internet ready . . . . . The one thing I absolutely hate is the predictive text in text and e-mail. It makes it slow going and you cant turn it off! At least on e-mail you can turn it off for each e-mail but not in text. I now hate texting! That is strong words but true. I would almost rather call you. Yeesh.

Support your local Gal

My friend from my days at Ikea has a great little website. She runs the business out of her home along with a full time job outside the home. Here is the header from her site "Phoophie is an online store specializing in anything cute. We sell stationery, sticker sacks, sticker sheets, memo pads, pencil cases, pencils, erasers, deco tape, plushes, 1" buttons and more. Some of the brands we carry are San-x, Crux, Kamio Japan, Pool Cool, Cram Cream, Q-Lia, Tokidoki, and Mindwave."

I ordered a few sets of stationary to have something fun to write to Nick on. I spent $10. (an indulgence for me currently) and I must say the items were even cuter in person than on the site! I find it even more fun to write to Nick using this cute stationary. I hope Nick likes it too. I ordered Aozora and Rabbit's Letter set
Check out her site and support a local gal. She has had this site since 2003! Phoophie

Hallo!

Anyone who has ever spent time in my world knows that things happen in groups and stress me. The last month has been no exception. I had my son turning 21(attention must be paid!), my mom preparing for knee surgery, my dad having trouble with his vision, having to study for a test at work and take it on my day off, looking for a permanent job, rushing to get my taxes done and trying to get enough hours at work. Okay, so it was a typical month for me.

My moms surgery has been moved to April since her surgeon had to have emergency surgery on his hand/arm. I was not going to have her ready on time so that helps me. Nick's first visit home was going to be at the same time as her surgery was scheduled. I still need to go crawl around her kitchen floor to clean her cupboards and help get the guest room ready. One of my Aunties is still coming since she already got her ticket. Mom just cant walk/do much since it's the knee and hip on the same side that is so painful. She already had both on the other side done. She will be the Bionic woman when it's all done! Until then she needs my help. She is not a spring chicken since I am not. Neither one of us act like old broads that we are chronically. Where is the fun in that anyway?

I don't entertain much at my apartment since there is not much room in the main space. Wil turning 21 was a good reason to entertain. He had his film study class in the evening so I had folks over for homemade pizza and such before Wil, Danny and some of their friends headed off to watch "Fargo". They were going to go out after class so I wanted to make sure Wil ate something good to throw up later. What a mom. I had a tough time being ready on time. Wil's pals picked him up on Monday night so they could have him at the bar by midnight. They brought him home beyond drunk around 2am and waved bye. I got to deal with the "Pukeanator" for the rest of the morning. Wil has never been good at throwing up. He thinks he can do mind over matter and it wont happen. He has terrible aim since he thinks he can stop it. Good times.

The test went well. (90 fucking percent, thank you!) I was freaking a little since I don't use at work any of what I was going to get tested on. It is all the stuff I had to learn and memorize while in school almost two years ago. Use it or lose it. I think what was freaking me the most was trying to get my place ready for entertaining on a time crunch, picking up days at work to get enough hours but in doing so it would cancel out my study time. I also had to spend a lot of time getting together my tax stuff to get that rolling. That was a bust this year. My dependents aren't since they were not in school enough. My usual refund that saves my ass is not. That was hard news to swallow this year. The temp job never took out taxes even though I filled out my W4 so I owe the State of Oregon. While all of this is hard to have happen leave it up to my amazing tax guy to see the upside. Since he started doing my taxes (this is year 5) I have really turned my life around. No unemployment for the last three years, I went to school and have made more money each year compared to the last. He said he is really proud of my hard work and dramatic changes I have made. When you put it that way how can you not see the positive? He is right. It may be hard to still be "temporary" in my position and the uncertainty of hours is frustrating but I have a job. There are so many that cant say that and are having a hard time. I struggle with trying to find permanency in my life but I have one to struggle with so that is enough for now.

A big shout out to one Mrs. Cupcake aka Olga (aka Awesome). She made the amazing cupcakes for Wil's birthday party. She is starting a home biz making vegan cupcakes. I waited until they were tasted to tell the vegan part. She made amazing German Chocolate cupcakes. Thank you Awesome!

Reality bites

I enjoy a watching few reality shows and I will say not the norm - duh. Two are the original "Girls Next Door" with Holly, Bridget and Kendra and "Keeping up with the Kardashian's". That being said I started watching the Super Bowl and the first thing that popped into my head was this is "This is the battle of the reality star's men." Kendra is married to Hank Baskin and Kim K is dating (soon to be engaged to?) Reggie Bush. I did not know (have not watched) either team going into this game but was really impressed how well both teams played. It was a good game to see. I totally missed the whole season since I mostly work evenings. I didn't even go to a Monday Night Taco night! The commercials sucked compared to years past. Good game with interesting twists and turns. That is how a Super Bowl should be!

Send every good thought my way on Tuesday, Thanks!

DIY projects are calling me

I have some crafty things I really want to try. Stained glass, mosaic work, wood furniture re-finishing, decoupage welding and sewing. Some in the unrealistic category because of price are welding art/metal art. I realize that is quite a list but I got the creative need! I have furniture pieces that I want to work on to refinish. I probably don't need a class to do my pieces but I would like to learn how to repair as well as re-finish. I guess I need a Sugar Person to keep me so I can have more time for the crafty DIY!

As far as decoupage goes I have already seen in my minds eye some projects I want to do finished - several actually. I am strapped for room to do projects in our place. I would love to have a garage or spare room to dedicate to DIY fun. The possibilities are endless . . . . . I am looking for a new place to dwell so if you know of a house that costs "not so much" let me know
