Summer, where did you go?!

It has been a busy but not always personally productive summer!  I can't believe we are in the month of November!I really missed a lot of summer dealing with Kel, massive overtime at work and preparing for Wil to move on. 

I finally kicked Kel out in August. As predicted it was ugly. She thought it was perfectly acceptable for an able bodied adult to move in with her boy friend and his cash cow mother and do nothing. (no bitterness) Wil was going to move out too but the apartment he found was supposed to be ready end of September, then October or early November.. . . Still waiting for it to be ready. Abby will miss him but I am actually glad he is going. I am ready to live without my kids. I wish it was in better circumstances but that is how it goes. I am ready to be on my own!


Abby had a bout of diarrhea a couple weeks ago around the time she turned 2. It was also they time I started with her in obedience training. We only made it to two of the classes when she got sick. The vet was concerned about her very slow heart rate with each visit. Her new vet read the notes from the vet (she went to in emergency about a week after her spay and over night stay. She ended up with pneumonia) who wanted to send Abby to the heart specialist. She was quite ill at the time and dehydrated so I was not concerned by a slow heart rate. While she thinks that is extreme to send her to a heart specialist she is leaning towards Addison's Disease. They say she is the right age but not the breed typically prone. I am not buying it so far. Stress can  trigger an episode. Let's just say we have had stress the whole time Kel was here and Abby did not get sick then. At the time she got sick there was no stress. I was working a regular number of hours and we had lots of time together. She has a bad habit of eating any and everything off the floor (street etc) I watch her like a hawk on our walks but she is so fast! I feel her diarrhea was caused by eating something. 

The first vet visit was 2 days after the diarrhea started. She was still her usual self but even with bland diet did not get better pooh wise. They tested her fecal and this is what the vet said after getting the results. " Abby's fecal was negative (no parasites seen in this sample including giarda!).  Please email Dr. Martin about the next step as her stools are still not completely normal" 5 days after that visit and a day after her medication course treatment was complete she threw up. (Just once) they told me to bring her straight in. More IV fluids and office visit later (she is still her usual self - not lethargic) is when they are telling me about Addison's. At that time we did not have any stress happening! If she has another episode when Wil moves out I will revisit this diagnosis. 

I have enjoyed getting my place back the way I like it. I have also been sorting through things and giving Wil things he will need then buying new for me! It has been fun shopping for myself. I have got new glasses, flat ware, bamboo cutting boards, and some dishes to go with my current ones.  Well, what is left of them.Most are extremely chipped.

Losing a lot of the dishes were hard to deal with. I really like the pattern. Kel loaded the dishwasher by feel and force instead of sight. My Pfaltzgraff (hard to chip or break) dinnerware pattern is retired so . . . .My mom found some great Polish Pottery that goes sooo well with my current Verona pattern. I will say now that Polish Pottery is on my radar I love it! So colorful and rich looking and sooo many patterns. I wish I could go nuts getting it but,no. Mom found the traditional pattern at Ross. She spent 4 days going to different Ross Stores trying to get "a set" The bowls she found were $3.99 each vs $36. each on most of the online sites.

I will try to take some photos on my next day off. I have many pics sent to me by text message (yes, my 78 year old mom sends text messages and photos) but I cant transfer them to my e-mail to put here.
