A half Century

Monday 8/6 was my 50th birthday. I had a great day with my parents and Abby. We drove down to the Oregon Coast for the day. My Mom had asked me what I wanted to do on my birthday to celebrate. After a quick thought I said go to Gerhart and Seaside for the day. I could not remember the last time I had been to the Coast. I have spent a lot of time there in my life. My ex-husband's family had two houses in Gerhart. I liked the quiet small town feel. Gerhart is called the "Cape Cod of the West". We would go in the summer for the weekend with the in laws but in the Winter it was fun to get away and just be. The winter storms were particularly noisy in one house. The wind would come in waves like the surf and the house would creak and moan. It was a pleasant in the evening to read or watch the cable TV that we did not have at home when we were first married. A lot of the town is the same but it has grown up in the last 30 years. It was nice to go and walk/drive around. One day I hope to spend a weekend or more.

The weather was fantastic especially for the Oregon Coast! There was a slight breeze when we first arrived as the clouds were burning off. We got to Gerhart around 11:30. After lunch it was almost 70 and sunny! Right before lunch and again later in Seaside I took Abby for a walk on the Beach. She had never been before. She loved it! She was on the retractable lead that is 16 feet but was still pulling me along! She was trying to run "sled dog" style. It made it impossible for me to keep up with her while still in the soft sand. She would love to be off-leash trained so she could run like crazy! That is my goal to start training her on some basic things.

I did not know what I expected for the day but it was pretty perfect. I had a great birthday.

The mundane and costly (not) procrastination

I don't feel this should be categorized as procrastination. I had it in a mental list of things to do on my "Vacation" of three days off. (July 6th-8th) I simply forgot to complete the task but am making up for lost time as I can especially at work since it is for work. I have known for more than a month that I needed to complete my continuing education (CE) modules for both my Oregon and National licenses. The Oregon is once per year and I need 10 credits with one of those  being about Law. Most of the CE's take about 20ish minutes but you get 2 credits. The National is every 2 years and 20 credits with 2 being law. The Oregon Board is a government site online so not user friendly! The PTCB is so wonderful to use! They have a button to click on from the main page that walks you through the recert process. It took less than ten minutes to add in my completed CE info and get to the payment page! It also cost less to recert the National. $40 for two years vs $52.50 for one year of Oregon. Notice the odd number in the Oregon sum? The $2.50 is a survey they make you take AND it costs!

The good news is I got it all done in a timely manner to stay in good graces within Pharmacy law. Yay.
