Snail mail is fun!

Hi all,

I recently signed up to be a pen pal to a deployed marine. After my experience with Nick and his military school I understand the need for support. Being in a strange place and being lonely a nice letter is a great break. I actually have 2 pen pals now. You write to a soldier and give them something to look forward to. If you want you can send them care packages. Nick told me the key items the soldiers love to receive. This is not a dating site and the soldier can be man or woman married or single. It is mostly snail mail that they can receive but each soldier is different.

It is free to sign up and in a day or two the site admin e-mail's you the name and address of your pen pal. Please consider this easy way to volunteer time and help someone. Below is an e-mail I received from the admin of the site where I got one of my pen pals.

Thanks,

Marta

Hello Fellow Supporters:

We need some MANY MORE supporters to take on some of our wonderful deployed service members! If you could get 3 friends, family, coworkers, anyone to join us, please pass this email it to them!
Or have them go to www.adoptaussoldier.org and register on our site. The troops need our help!

A soldier recently registered with the following comments:
I would like to thank your organization in the help they have been giving to all of us here.
I have seen some soldiers around that have gotten letters or care packages from their supporters and love them. I hope to see one soon, what it does for morale I can not put in words. Thank You

Thank you in advance for your help!

You are all AMAZING!!!

Well hello there

How are you all doing? I had a stomach bug that hit late afternoon on Tuesday. I missed work on Wednesday and stressed about it. You all know by now I will trudge on and work as long as I don't get you all sick too. Anyway, the good news is I now have PTO and next week I have benefits! I got paid to be home watching TV. That is priceless.

48 is great . . . . so far

I had a pretty fun birthday! Thanks to all that came along for the fun times. I had always meant to go to Casa del Matador but never made it there until last night. I highly recommend the happy hour ! The food was really tasty and the portions are regular size for $4-$5 bucks! The drinks were good too but seemed pricey. Anyway, we ordered several dishes and all tried them. We laughed and learned more about each other and had a great evening. Susu even went to tell a guy at the bar that my co-worker Buffy thought he was cute! He took his time but eventually came over to talk to her. When we got ready to go to the movie she chose to stay with him.

We tottered off to see the movie "The other Guys" When we went to see "Inception" a few weeks ago this was a preview and opening night was my birthday. I told Kelly I wanted to go see that movie on my birthday. It was entertaining and made me laugh so I liked it. It could have been the four cocktails I had right before?

With no real plan except for the start of the evening I had an idea what I wanted to do next. . . . Go see my favorite stripper at the Acrop. I have not visited her for quite awhile and hoped she would be there. I used to know her schedule but could not remember it (especially after four well made cocktails in less than an hour and a half) so we went. Luck of luck she was there on an evening she does not normally work - talk about karma! The rest of the crew was up for this but my lovely son, Wil. He refused to go to a strip club with his mom. I was sad he waited in the parking lot but in we went. Jenna remembered me which was very sweet. When she was done with her circuit Kelly bought me a lap dance . . . very nice. Happy birthday to me.

Oh! I got the movie "Whip it" from my Auntie! I was very thrilled to receive an adorable movie about derby.
