Not so bad

The car news was not so bad. I was told the gasket was to be $75 installed. They found a few more things that go hand in hand with it but I kinda expected that. All in all the total for all the repairs, parts and cleaning up the leaked oil all over the engine is . . . . . $102! It runs soooo much better now! I am so sorry I neglected you Ethyl MeRM! It all took 1 1/2 hours in which I hung out and read my book and made some phone calls.

I took a shortened bike ride when I got back. It is 33 outside and a bit blustery but that did not bother me. It has snowed off and on all day but not sticking. When I was biking a cross between snow/rain and soft ice started coming down. I did not want to get soaked so I turned around. It was nice to get out. Now I am in my flannel jams watching the snow fall and a movie. A better day off than I thought I would have. Looking up!

Wil, the Muppets and me

So our day went from an easy day to action packed with errands and taking care of business. I called Comcast first thing this morning to see if we could get any deals on our" Triple Play" package. We are already getting the best deal we can given the things that are "must haves" but it turns out that we can trade in our HD cable box and get one with a DVR built in! I am pretty excited by this! You can record 3 shows at once, set it ahead, watch one and record two more. . . The possibilities are endless. I wish it had a cuter name like TIVO but I will just give it a better name. I will get back to this subject in a minute. The catch to getting this wonder toy is the driving to the service center and waiting in a large waiting room run much like the DMV. After we are done here (typing from service center) it is on to the movie then shopping and such. I started this post while sitting in line for our equipment exchange. We got done at 12:50 and the movie time was 1:35 at a Theater close by.

After leaving Comcast we headed for the one day sale at the Uniform Store for replacement scrub pants. I literally wore my first pair of brown Koi Lindsay scrub pants out! I knew the pant I wanted and my size so a quick stop. I have wanted a steel gray pair for some time so I ran in grabbed and paid. On the way to the movie we hit Arbys for a bite to go and on to the Muppets!

We got to the Theater at 1:25 - no problem! When I used my movie rewards card I even scored a free soda! There was only a mom and her two preschoolers besides us in the theater. They were quiet so I was pleased. As for the movie I fucking loved it! I laughed so much I was exhausted after the movie from all my laughing. We both had a great time. Wil has always been a big Muppets fan and he loved this movie too.

When Wil was very young they played "The Muppet Show" on "Nick at Nite". Wil loved to watch that show! Later he would see Muppets on "Sesame Street", "Muppet Babies" and then the movies they made. He was excited when he heard about this new movie. I asked him if he would go with me to see it. He gave such a smile. It is good to see him excited about a nice PG movie for a change. I don't want to spoil anything but I laughed so hard when I saw Gonzo's chicken sing I was crying. Yes, I almost wet myself.

When we pulled our tired-but-happy-persons out of the Movie Theater we hit Costco for a pizza. We ate a slice or two there then hit Winco next door for some food shopping. Wil needed something at the Fred Meyer Electronics Dept so we grabbed a few more things we could not get at Winco and headed home. We finally got home around 7pm. We left the house around 11:20am. It was a good and fun day off.

I am going to really like my new toy. The DVR is going to be lots of fun. It is super easy to use. I have already recorded two movies and set it to tape a TV show. It is going to be cool. I have named most of my most used items. It started with my car and Olga helping me name it. After naming her Ethyl MeRM it just kept going. My bike is Bonnie Blue Bell, my sewing machine helps me do crafty things so she is DivaDo! They all eventually tell me their names if I am patient and listen.

Life is good.

48 is great . . . . so far

I had a pretty fun birthday! Thanks to all that came along for the fun times. I had always meant to go to Casa del Matador but never made it there until last night. I highly recommend the happy hour ! The food was really tasty and the portions are regular size for $4-$5 bucks! The drinks were good too but seemed pricey. Anyway, we ordered several dishes and all tried them. We laughed and learned more about each other and had a great evening. Susu even went to tell a guy at the bar that my co-worker Buffy thought he was cute! He took his time but eventually came over to talk to her. When we got ready to go to the movie she chose to stay with him.

We tottered off to see the movie "The other Guys" When we went to see "Inception" a few weeks ago this was a preview and opening night was my birthday. I told Kelly I wanted to go see that movie on my birthday. It was entertaining and made me laugh so I liked it. It could have been the four cocktails I had right before?

With no real plan except for the start of the evening I had an idea what I wanted to do next. . . . Go see my favorite stripper at the Acrop. I have not visited her for quite awhile and hoped she would be there. I used to know her schedule but could not remember it (especially after four well made cocktails in less than an hour and a half) so we went. Luck of luck she was there on an evening she does not normally work - talk about karma! The rest of the crew was up for this but my lovely son, Wil. He refused to go to a strip club with his mom. I was sad he waited in the parking lot but in we went. Jenna remembered me which was very sweet. When she was done with her circuit Kelly bought me a lap dance . . . very nice. Happy birthday to me.

Oh! I got the movie "Whip it" from my Auntie! I was very thrilled to receive an adorable movie about derby.

Christmas tells the truth

I watched the movie Love Actually recently. I had never seen it before even though it is a movie from 2003. It was a very cute movie. In the middle of it I thought I would get very sad since I am not in a relationship or even see the hope of one but was not the case. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to all to watch this holiday season. Let me know if you liked it.

One thing from the movie I liked was the theme throughout the movie. Christmas time is the time to tell the truth. I liked the idea a lot and it got me thinking. I always tell you how I'm feeling but I don't always have the time to elaborate on it. I will take the time now in the spirit of the movie.

Things did not really go the way I had planned for them to go this year. I was so optimistic and full of goals at the beginning of the year. I was going to conquer the world Diva style. I did not reach most of the goals I had for myself this year which is disappointing but I am proud of my forward fighting motion. Given the economy I'm really proud that I am still standing! So, I am still not permanently employed but (as usual) working on that. It is a little scary that I wont have the second job to save my bacon but I'm ever optimistic. Not sure how I'm going to pull this out of the new year's still down economy but I gotta keep going, right?

As for the dating. Hang on to your hats cause here comes a big roar of honesty. (I am a Leo) This has been a frustrating journey this year. The people I seem to be attracted to are already in a relationship, don't want to just date but want to be in love NOW or I got matched up on e-Harmony and cant figure out why. Let me just say I really hate e-Harmony. I know hate is a strong word but if the shoe fits. I find it a waste of (my Dad's) money. All of you out there that insisted I go with e-Harm vs Match.com I wont listen to you again on this point. Match may be a dating vs relationship site but I probably would have gone out on more than 2 dates. e-Harm seems to attract the desperate I want to be married now guys. I get the feeling that they don't want to try to get to know you but think once you are matched you just hook up and done. I was "matched" with several but most really did not spark my attention. Honestly I could not see why I was matched with most of them. (a member of a Harley gang that "typically spends his free time" on Harley rides, three wheeling and camping. Oh, he looked like a member of Zz Top) I really want to meet some folks that have a low drama meter and get to know them. It sounds simple enough but it has not worked out that way at all. I miss a lot about dating. The touching, silly text messages, getting dressed up to meet someone, talking for hours about everything and nothing, feeling my heart flutter when I see them coming down the street, the dreamy feeling of a first kiss with someone you are attracted to and so much more. I'm not sure why it has been so hard for me to meet someone but it is disappointing. I would love to get past the first date and feel the excitement of a second date.

So, that was my Christmas honesty. Maybe if I'm lucky the Christmas Fairy will grant my wish. Merry Christmas to all.

Entertain Me

A couple of weeks we chose to watch the movie "Shoot 'em Up" with Deeg. We wanted to watch a bad-good movie and boy did it fit the bill! If you turned this on expecting a big budget action movie you would have been pissed! Susu came in near the end and kept asking us "What the fuck are you watching?" I did like it for the sheer ridiculousness of it. The characters are likable and you get hooked waiting to see what will happen to this guy next. I do recommend this movie for a laughing good entertain - me time. The action is unbelievable but fun to watch. His leather jacket seems to be made of Teflon.

Another movie we saw a couple of months ago I really liked is called "Fido" It is a semi-comedy zombie flick. There is some blood because it is a zombie movie. It had a good story and was enjoyable to watch. I liked how they made it look like an old fifties film. We found it on On Demand. I think I would like to own this one.

Wil didn't think I would like "Knocked Up". We were looking through On Demand and he told me I probably would think it was too immature. That seemed like a challenge to me so I said I wanted to see it. I found it to be a good movie to watch. I liked the characters and the story line. It is a clumsy love story which makes it more realistic. It reminded me a bit of "Forty Year Old Virgin" though I'm not sure why besides the male lead.


"The Bucket List" was a good movie. Wil wasn't sure he wanted to see it but Deeg insisted. We all liked it a lot and did not expect some of the twists. I would recommend this movie for the beautiful story. It was a heart squeezer at times. I love Morgan Freeman so just because of him I would watch it. We watched it at an interesting time for me. It was the week after my ER visit. I was still at a critical time so the story made me think. I didn't make a bucket list but I did think of some loose ends I wanted to tie up - just in case. I did feel some regret for things I have not done or finished. It also made me feel that I if I was going to go I would go down swinging. For anyone that knows me - no shock there.

I have already commented on some movies I have seen in the theater recently but I will recall. I really loved "Sex in the City". If you are a fan of the series I highly recommend this movie. The story moved well and continued where the show left off. BTW it is coming out on video Sept. 23rd. There were a couple of things I didn't like the outcome of but if you have not seen it I wont spoil it for you.

"Mama Mia" was beautiful. I sang, I felt surges of joy and the pain of the sadness of the story. The music and story blended well toghter. I almost felt as if I was there and part of it. I have to own this movie! Meryl Streep bowled me over! She has great stage presence and is a hell of a singer! Mary didn't think Pierce Brosnan was the right choice for the male lead. My mom and I didn't agree with her. My mom's reason is she thinks he is hot. I think the chemistry was beliveable so I was satisfied. I was a little hesitant to see this with my mom. We saw "Moulin Rouge" together in the theater and she hated it. That movie hit home with me. It is an important movie to me and gives me strength to be me. Interestingly it is a re-make of a 1952 movie of the same name. John Huston wrote the screen play and directed it. I will have to check out the original.

I Look forward to winter where you dont want to go out so a movie is in order. Since our summer has finally arrived (late August?!?) I am out biking instead of sitting on my ass. Hopefully a hike, Deeg?
