Learn to do well
Yesterday at Ref practice we put the track back in place. They had to take the track up for the city inspection and laid it back down Friday night. It is a time consuming task that took 6-7 of us 2 1/2 hours. I had no idea how much Drill Master has to do to have a track for us to use. It was a good learning experience. So the gals did not come back for part two of Bash the Refs. That will be next week or soon. I was ready to be tough! I didn't stay for too much of the Fresh Meat as we had dinner reservations to celebrate Nick's 16th Birthday. We used a gift certificate we had received last Christmas and never used. We had a nice dinner and some nice family time I have been missing. We are in for a tough time here so I'm glad we had this time and fancy meal. I/We almost have the home computer fixed so I can re-build my resume (Windows ate it and all my cover letters!) and find another job ASAP! My time at the seasonal job is winding down quickly. In February we lose a monthly amount of money that helps us stay in our apartment so I'm getting scared. I may be a good mom but suck as the provider. I need to find something that I am qualified at, earns enough money and take care of my babies!Happy Happy Joy Joy to all and to all a good year.
Bashing fun
Yesterday for Ref practice DrillMaster invited gals to come bash us Ref's around. I was not sure what to expect going in but it turned out wonderfully. Six gals showed up so the Ref's out-numbered them. We did several different drills for the gals to bash us then DM had them pick a Ref and work on a skill we feel weak on. Viva Vendetta helped me first with bettering my t-stop. I have outdoor wheels that are great on the wood at Oaks Park but a bit harder on the sport court. It is a bit like skating in mud but it will make my legs stronger. I really enjoyed working with her and how patient all the gals were and helpful teaching! Madame Bumpsalot was next with one and two knee falls and getting back up quickly. Perla jumped in on this lesson showing her variation. On the sport court it is harder to do this because you don't slide. That was a lot of fun getting that skill down. I didn't want to do the last stop on the sport court because it involves going down on the butt. I felt I had enough bumps and bruises already. Sol Train did some extra lesson on taking a hit with a "don't mess with me" stance. I really did well once I really stuck my booty out more and had a wide stance. I didn't get to work with Bitter or Slabia Majora but I did speak to SM before she left practice.DM is doing all this to decide the positions the Refs will do. I really want to do the inside pack Ref but may not be the best for that position. I will keep working on my skating skills and hope for the best. Not sure when we will find out but it will be before the Jan 27th bout. All the folks at work cant wait for me to have tickets to sell so they can come watch me so keep your fingers crossed!
Winter wonderland
I have not had the Holiday/Christmas spirit this year. There are many reasons for this. I am at (another) temporary job that will end in mid-January, massive teen issues that will result in money loss monthly that threatens our living situation , downgrading a wonderful relationship from dating to friends, and a lot of my big ticket items needing repair or replaced. I feel like all I do is try to hold things together but don't seem to do that well or make forward progress. After 5+ years it gets you down. I realize there are people out there with a lot more worry some problems and I need to suck it up some more. I do try to do that daily. I always try to enjoy the small things and simple pleasures.
The thing is I like my independence but I miss being in a committed relationship. To me a relationship means that you share a life, responsibilities, the good and bad and you know there is another person that is there for you and you for them. I'm tired and want someone to lean on and share with.
This morning I went out to a very cold morning. It was 27 and frosty when I walked to the trolley. It did give me a bit of the holiday spirit and made me wish I had my camera. It felt good to have a bit of that feeling today. I hope for more of it because I dont like feeling this way.
