Welcome to my boudoir

Hello and welcome to my boudoir. I am very pleased about how my closet re-do is going. I ended up buying another larger file cabinet on Sunday. I got it at the Thrift store in my hood for $8! It was marked at $12 but it had been there for a bit. I did not want to buy it before as I was sure I would get one (the right size and in working order) for free on CL but I have been trying for some time and nothing. I was so sure the one I got at the garage sale would help out but once I got into the closet and started pulling out stuff I knew it would not do the trick. I needed a bigger cabinet for my bedroom closet. My parents were out in my side of town and so they picked me up in the afternoon, checked it out with me and helped haul it home in the mini van. I am going to use the smaller one I got at the garage sale in the front closet (aka coat closet) to hold bags, school supplies, sporting goods and so forth. The whole goal of this file cab in my bedroom was to get important papers out from multiple boxes under my bed and easy access to them when needed. As of 7:25pm Tuesday I have accomplished that task! I got 3 paper boxes out from under my bed, sorted and made equal to a grocery bag full of recycle, file and shred. It took me about 7 hours of steady work but got the bulk of the job done and I could not be more pleased. I am pleased that both cabinets hold the same size paper (letter vs legal) so when Wil moves out I could probably give him the small one. He will go through his box of papers and add his to the large cab for now. It was a long and by the end annoying task but truly could not be more pleased I got it finished! The only thing I still need to do is go through two drawers of my desk and add to the files. That way my desk can be art, office supplies, sewing supplies and pens. I feel so grown up. In order to make room in my closet I had to change my huge blue "off season storage bin" for the two "smaller skinny under bed storage bins" (thank you Joseph) and let go of things that I really wont fit into again. I let go of a lot of things but one of the bins is full of keepsake items like a "Bazooka Bubble Gum" t-shirt that will not fit me again. I just could not part with the memories it (and others) represented. I don't know what I will ever do with it (them) but I could not part with it.

The other two twists of events are these. Nick is now living with my ex and his wife but they are both out of town Wednesday (separately) so he (my ex) begging me (his words "I will owe you" really? May I just say no Fuck and Duh!) to have Nick stay with me while they are gone over night. They don't even give him a house key yet. "He has to earn trust" since agreeing to this I have been asked by t to have a garage sale this Friday and Saturday at her place. Set up is while Master t naps Thursday afternoon. I will see if Nick can help since Wil has extra hours this week at work and the next couple of weeks. I wont really know what is going on til he gets here. He wanted to have one of his homeless teen friends to come for dinner (the four days he was here we did but) he wanted to do a pizza and movie night so maybe that will work out. That boy came here and did laundry and a shower but he left some heavy clothing stuff to dry and left it here. I could not have him stay here since Nick was here. He couch surfs like Nick did. He used my home phone to call several people around 10:30pm to find that nights couch. I felt bad about it but cant give anymore than I have right now. I am still "saving" from unemployment payment every week for paying rent. I will go right up to the end of the month to make rent. Paying DMV for my car registration last month through me off. I need a f'ing job! Come on!

Just got a phone call from Nick. He was hoping I was going to my usual Skate night tomorrow cause he wanted to go skate with me! He even told some of his X-Games style skate board buddies to go too. He said his awesome Roller Derby Mommy would school them then teach them well. WOW! Is my baby finally growing up and getting it together? He is registering with an alternative school for the fall to finish high school. That is why he is staying with his dad. I could not have him for many reasons but the biggest is lack of space and he and Wil don't get along when they are living together. I am speechless for the moment.

Remember

It has been a tough couple of days. A wonderful young woman was found dead in her apartment on Sunday morning. She was a Derby girl. It has shocked us all. We don't know the details yet but that is not as important as the fact that I will never see her lovely smile or see her skate ever again. She will be greatly missed. I got a text at work about this and it was a hard 2 hours finishing my shift Monday. It keeps hitting me over and over when I least expect it. She was a special lady. There is a public memorial service Saturday 2-4 pm at the Doug Fir.

Good bye Bunny. You will be greatly missed.

Dating (and life) goes on

Since I last wrote I've been busy. I was communicating with four guys in the online dating site. I went on a date with one last week. He said in his profile he was 5'7" but when I stood up at the end I was taller. I am 5'51/2. There was no chemistry for me. He had mannerisms that were too much like my ex-husband. The guy I went out with yesterday gave up smoking to meet me. Sadly there was no chemistry here either. He has been living in or near the same small town for 30 years and has worked the same job. He does not like his job but work is all he does. At least I'm out there trying. Another has showed via e-mail he is very personally conservative. No can do.

This weekend was Derby Daze. I had signed up to go to the Ref workshops and see how I felt about Derby. Couplesk8 assumed I wanted to Ref. I ran the Penalty box all weekend and for the WoJ bout. It was fun to have Ref's from other leagues as well as girls. The scrimmages were fun to help with on Saturday and Sunday. Met some fun people I hope to stay in touch with. I also met someone that really sparked for me. It isn't often I meet someone that I'm instantly highly attracted to. (twice in the last ten years) I notice mannerisms and certain things I like. I was in full on crush before we even had a conversation. When we did speak there was something there and when we touched it was electric. It wasn't just on my side. All great, right? They live out of state and are married. That really bites. My heart hurts and I cant get them out of my head! Random thoughts pop in my head like their hands (yes, I like hands) and how they move around in a conversation, their voice, (again a voice can be very sexy) eyes, smile, principles and a confident patients and knowledge-FUCK! I'm hooked. Don't think less of them. They did not do anything untowards. We both felt it but did not act on anything. Okay, we had no personal space but it just seemed natural and yes when we touched there was an electricity .God it just hurts. Thankfully they live out of state so I can slowly get over this. It will take time. It would help if I could meet someone else. Anyone know anyone out there that would be perfect for a Diva? Help!

They hope to grow, elevate, and improve the game of roller derby at every level. Portland's season full of visiting leagues rolls on!

Portland, OR (Mar 17, 2008) - On Saturday, March 22nd the Rose City Rollers (RCR) hit the track for the second game of their 2008 season at the Portland Expo Center. With 30-minute periods and a visiting team playing at each of RCR's bouts, Portland's derby season is off to a smashing start. The first match of the night will have RCR's Guns N Rollers facing off against Eugene's Emerald City Roller Girls, in a match that is anyone's call. Following will be a rematch of last seasons ferocious championship match-up between the Break Neck Betties and the Heartless Heathers.

THE AFTER PARTY: Join the Rose City Rollers at Mt Tabor Legacy for a rippin' good time with rockabilly favorites Dead Man's Hand, the Texecutioners and The Dicers. Admission is free with proof of bout admission.

SEASON TICKETS: Don't forget to purchase your 2008 season tickets to all RCR bouts and the Northwest Knockdown, the WFTDA's 2008 National Championship co-hosted by Rose City and Seattle's Rat City Roller Girls. Wanted to let you all know . . . . I passed my Pharmacy Technician course with flying colors!! I am very pleased with myself. I took one test while at the beginning of the flu and that was a mistake but still! I will be celebrating at the next Roller Derby bout's after party. If you want to come to the bout on March 22 it will be the day after my graduation. I am planning to celebrate my Graduation at the after party. You get in free to the after party with your ticket stub from the Bout. I will have to start studying next week as I need to pass the most difficult National test later in April.

The next Rose City Rollers bout is on March 22. That happens to be the day after my graduation from PT program with my Oregon License . I am planning to celebrate this milestone at the bout's after party the next day. Actually some of my class mates are going to be joining in the festivities before we get back to the books for the second half of student fun. We need to continue studying up to taking the National test. So, if you would like to enjoy some hard hitting, kick-ass girls doing Roller Derby and then party with them, PT students, strangers and me e-mail me. Portland Derby Fans Get Their First Taste of National Derby Play

Portland, OR (April 5, 2007) – On Saturday, April 21^st the Rose City Rollers (RCR) return to the Portland Expo Center for the first-ever nationally ranked Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) derby match to take place on Portland soil. Rose City’s all-star team, The Wheels of Justice, will face off against Sin City’s Neander Dolls in a grudge match stemming from Sin City’s recent 3-point victory over Rose City at the Dust Devil tournament in Tuscon, AZ. The evening will also include an exhibition match between Portland’s junior all-star team, The Axles of Annihilation, as they take on Bend’s Lava City Roller Dolls.

The derby action will consist of 3 20-minute periods of nationally ranked play accompanied by 2 15-minute periods of exhibition play. To keep fans entertained, the night will also feature periodic Jam Skating stylings by some of the participant’s in the upcoming World Skating Association’s Regional Jam Skate Qualifiers.

Not only will derby ticket holders be witness to a historic and hugely entertaining event, but they can also feel good about a portion of ticket proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk taking place in Portland on Sunday, May 13, 2007.

Bout Details:
Doors open at 5 pm, skatin' starts promptly at 6pm.

Excited for the Freshies

Tomorrow the Fresh Meat team of The Rose City Rollers will have a mini bout. The official name for the bout is "Down and Dirty Derby Debut". They have been split into two teams for the bout . Black and pink. It's an opportunity for the gals to invite their family and friends to come see what they do and learn at practice. (practices are closed) The reality is some of these gals may stay on the Fresh Meat team for a year. The four league teams are pretty full so most of the gals wont get drafted anytime soon. The good news is the gals are very talented. I have enjoyed learning skills and how to play the game with them and watching them as they grow into tough derby gals!

I'm excited to referee at this bout. I will be one of two inside pack ref's. There are also two outside pack ref's as well as two jammer ref's. Confused and not derby savvy? I will explain. The pack ref's watch the skaters and call fouls on the 5 gals that make up the pack of pivots and blockers. Each team consists of 1 pivot, 5 blockers and 1 jammer. The pivot determines the pace of the pack and skates at the very front. Next the blockers battle with each other and keep the opposing jammer from getting through the pack. They also assist their jammer on getting through the pack. The jammer is the person that has to skate (battle) through the pack and earns points for each opposing team member she successfully passes. It is all quite exciting and I'm so grateful to be living a childhood dream of being involved in roller derby.

Ken will be announcing under his derby name "Chucky E. Sleeze" and DJ will be taking tons of pictures! My parents are coming to see what all the fuss is about. They have been scratching their heads and saying things like "You should be careful - your no spring chicken". or " Be careful your in your 40's". Oh my god, really! I am not the oldest in the league so? What they should realize is I'm having a ball and making great friends. Being part of this group of women is very nice.

Don't hesitate but get your tickets for the opening bout on March 24th. I still have a few tickets to sell but we always sell out before the day of the bout. Tickets are general addmission and cost $15.00.
